This is a 1968 CLASSIC!

“The C.A. Quintet’s journey to Hades burned hot enough to melt the ice in their frigid Minnesota environs. A coveted collectable since the psychedelic record collecting disaster whirl first started over 30 years ago, Trip Thru Hell (1968) is rightly regarded as the epitome of local psych-cum-garage rising above its humble roots into something truly monolithic. Evolving from the local circuit into a hellish beast of keyboards, lysergic lyrics, trippy guitars and even subtle..

"Caamora is a partnership of Clive Nolan (Pendragon/Neo) and Agnieszka Swita in a lavish and creative collaboration. They provide the artistic nucleus to an extravagant and imaginative musical experience. The "Walk On Water" EP includes new material...

Roberto Cacciapaglia made two amazingly great, space / minimal albums in the late 70s / early 80s.

This is his latest, released in 2014, which is still systems music, but it is more 'romantic' sounding and performed on solo piano ala some of Phillip Glass' piano works.

It's good. It isn't fabulous (at least not for this old minimalist), but we have a tiny number of copies at a relatively very low price for fans and completists.

This was a very obscure double album opera from the early 1980's.

Pretty amazing, 50-year old archival find in pretty amazingly good sound.
This is John Tchicai and Finn von Eyben's group together after the last version of the New York Art Quartet broke up.
Hugo Steinmetz (trumpet)
Kim Menzer (trombone)
John Tchicai, Karsten Vogel (alto saxophones)
Steffen Andersen, Finn von Eyben (basses)
Bo Thrige Andersen (drums)
Giorgio Musoni (percussion)

"Saxophonist John Tchicai returned home to Denmark in 1966 after four years in

This is a pretty great, very, very rare album from Italy. Using a lineup of acoustic piano, electric bass and drums, this has the sound of a jazz trio playing progressive rock. The music swings at points but there's too much 'trickery' and stop/start...

Tokyo playwright, director and artist J.A. Caesar sprang to prominence in the early '70s largely through his work with Shuji Terayama's Tenjo Sajiki Theatre, specializing in vaguely sinister music reminiscent of a Hammer House Of Horrors soundtrack...

The debut CD from a quartet from Brasil who fuse the popular music of Northeast Brazilian music with jazz, bits of Andean folk music and perhaps even a touch of chamber music. Two guys handle drums and percussion and the other two are utility...

“Jean-Hervé, Zappi, and Steve Pittis recorded their interpretations of Radio Music independently in 2007 and 2010. They all felt it important to keep to the score as much as possible, given the obvious ambiguities of having to adapt it from John Cage's original 1956 score. These recordings were released as a 10" vinyl EP and sold out instantly, so here they are on CD format with some extras.
During "lockdown", it was obviously impossible to get together and perform, so an "ensemble" version culled...

"This double-CD set combines two of the key titles of Columbia Records’s legendary “Music of Our Time” series curated by David Behrman. Jeanne Kirstein’s recording of Cage’s early keyboard works remains a touchstone of Cagean interpretation...

Pianist Faton is undoubtably best known as a member of Magma during their early years, performing with them on their first two albums, and especially shinning on 1001 Centigrades. Right after 1001, he and Yochk'o Seffer split from Magma to form one of ...

"Jazz pianist/composer Uri Caine adapts works by the great classical composers, applying a wide range of musical styles from jazz and soul to klezmer and drum ‘n’ bass. A fascinating sound experience features great solos by Joyce Hammann (violin), Chris..

João Mortágua alto and soprano saxophones
Carlos Azevedo piano

"Leading figures from Porto’s vibrant jazz scene, saxophonist João Mortágua and pianist Carlos Azevedo, aka Calcanhar, announce their recording debut as a duo with the release of Jump, a full-of-beans feast of playful, telekinetic dialogue, chock-a-block with unfettered improvisations and freewheeling imaginative flights.
Often divining inspiration from paintings and poems, Calcanhar opt here for a totally spontaneous...

"1974 album from the groundbreaking Alt-Rock icon and former co-leader of the Velvet Underground. This solo album was released in 1974, six years after John Cale left the foundational punk band he co-founded, the Velvet Underground. It's moody ballads and edgy pop tunes include such standout tracks as "Ship of Fools" and the album's title track."

"When John Cales was invited for the Rockpalast-Festival on October, 14th 1984, he had just released the desolate masterpiece "Music For A New Society" (1982), "Caribbean Sunset" (1983) and "John Cale Comes Alive" (1984).
Compared to the official live album, JOHN CALE's performance at the Rockpalast was far more intense, desperate and wild. He performed the songs with a very hard edge, sometimes even deconstructed them ("Heartbreak Hotel"), receiving a mixed reaction from the audience, that just had..

“What does John Cale have that the rest of us don’t; some gene that engenders infinite restlessness, a rapacious mind that is never satisfied?
For nearly 60 years, or at least since he was a young Welshman who moved to New York and joined The Velvet Underground, Cale has been reinventing his music with dazzling and inspiring regularity. Once again, here is Cale, reimagining how his music is made, sounds, and even works.
His engrossing 12-track MERCY — his first full album of new tunes in a...

One of the great singer-songerwriter albums of the 70's, and with a nice, decidedly intellectual and literary bent. Cale is in excellent voice, and the tunes are all quite memorable. Cale performs on keyboards, viola and bass, and also appearing are Lowell George-guitar and Richie Hayward-drums (both of Little Feat!). This new version includes an expanded booklet and includes previously unreleased outtakes. Different than, but definitely for fans of Jack Bruce's Harmony Row. Recommended!

“Despite the album’s playful title, Cale’s second album in just over a year still contains the same feelings of fierce and inquisitive rage that were present in 2023 album MERCY. He remains angry, still incensed by the willful destruction that unchecked capitalists and unrepentant conmen have hoisted upon the wonders of this world and the goodness of its people. But this is not at all MERCY II, or some collection of castoffs, as throughout his career of more than six decades, Cale has never been much for...

Great set of two of John's performance on Rockpalast in 1984 (with his band) and 1983 (solo).

"Even today, JOHN CALE is renowned for having been a member of the Velvet Underground alongside Lou Reed, Maureen Tucker and Sterling Morrison...

John Cale’s mid 70s, three-album run at Island was a highlight of early art-rock proto-punk and this is a great set.

“In 1974 John Cale relocated to London and signed with Island Records, for whom he was to release three inventive and influential albums within a period of just over a year. ‘Fear’, released in September 1974, was a fine work and featured contributions from Brian Eno and Phil Manzanera (also credited as executive producers) and Richard Thompson. ‘Slow Dazzle’ appeared in April...

Digitally remastered edition of this 1975 album from the groundbreaking Alt-Rock icon and former co-leader of the Velvet Underground. Comes housed in a miniature LP sleeve. John Cale teamed up with several luminary British art rockers on the 1975 album Slow Dazzle that ranges from classic rock and roll on tracks like "Guts" and "Dirty Ass Rock 'N' Roll" to his chilling, gothic version of "Heartbreak Hotel."

John Cale's 2nd solo album, from 1972, and his first of two classics on Reprise (Paris 1919 followed next year), this is a odd, completely NON-pop release with strong elements of 20th century classical music and organized sound. Quite radical for 1972, and still pretty odd and unusual.

“Studio demos by legends in Liverpool, Caliban play proto punk edged hard rock that conjurs elements of the Who, Stackwaddy, Third World War and Deep Purple, wild and aggressive singing and even an occasional hint of a Johnny Rottenesque sneer and Daltrey stutter.
Guitar dominated, Judas Priest once supported them, Caliban had a huge live following but never scored a recording deal. Hints of Glam mainlining Nihilism via monster riffs.”

“A historic archival discovery, this is a live recording made at the last ever gig played at the old Cavern Club in Liverpool made legendary by The Beatles; the very next day the wrecking crews moved in and demolished the club!
Caliban rip through a set of confrontational punky hard rock in front of a partly bewildered audience, heavy riffs abound in a Deep Purple meets Third World War frenzy.”

"Calicanto, one of the most important bands in the Italian folk music landscape, presents the double CD ’25 anni Calicanto’. This work is an anthology that walks through the history of the ensemble, which was born in Padova 25 years ago. By publishing...

Celebrating 25 years of activity, Calicanto has succeeded in giving back dignity to the musical tradition of Venito. The CD is released in a rich package that includes a 88 page, full color booklet that includes the texts and presentation of the songs ...

The sometimes loved/sometimes reviled first solo album by Randy California released at a time when I believe that Spirit had fallen apart.

"Kaptain Kopter and the Twirlybirds is a tribute to Hendrix; on KK&T Randy California not only manages to layer the Hendrix style over covers, "Day Tripper" and "The Mother and Child Reunion" and originals "Downer" and "Devil", he does it effortlessly. Instead of simply imitating Jimi's sound, he plays it as if he knows exactly what he's doing, instead of...

“Caligonaut announces the release of his debut solo album Magnified as Giants. Caligonaut is a solo project by artist Ole Michael Bjørndal, a guitarist best known for his work with Oak, Airbag and Bjørn Riis Band. Bjørndal has composed the music, written the lyrics and also performs leadvocals and guitars.
The performers on the record include members of Wobbler, Airbag, Oak, Pymlico and Meer, and a special guest appearance by Norwegian church organ legend Iver Kleive. Magnified as Giants contains...

This isn’t from Cab’s most famous period, which was 8-10 years earler, but Cab was justifiably proud of his band, which was always filled with great musicians, and he continued making great jive and swing as long as he had his regular big band (until the late 40s).

“The Jazztory label's two-volume history covering the more obscure side of Cab Calloway's Orchestra during the 1930s and early '40s concludes with Jiveformation Please, a 50-track collection spanning 1938 to 1941.

Excellent second album from this fine Italian avant-progressive ensemble with more than a touch of jazz in them as well. Well played, well paced and everything just fits. Highly recommended!...

"At the end of his time in Chicago, in 1999, Brian Calvin recorded a batch of new songs with poet Devin Johnston. Designed to be an album, mostly recorded and mixed by Jim O'Rourke, who also plays bass and contributes background vocals on some cuts, they were never released, languishing in the vaults for almost two decades. Calvin and Johnston had both been members of USA, the band that recorded an LP and an EP for Drag City in the two years before this music was recorded. On the occasion of...

This 2003 remastered reissue comes in a nice digi-pack cover that contains all of the original artwork. "Camacho is one of the great Spanish folk-rock poets and this album is quite emotional, balanced between sparse acoustic guitar and vocals songs and...

The Camberwell Now were led by Charles Hayward, the drumming/vocalist mastermind behind This Heat, and was the band that he formed immediately after This Heat broke up.
They were released an album and 2 EPs in their lifetime, and this includes all of them in complete, chronological form, plus a track from a sampler.
Their sound was very informed by the This Heat esthetic, with more creative usages of drones than before and some incredible basswork.
While they didn't always quite...

André Roligheten soprano and tenor saxophones, bass clarinet / Andreas Wildhagen drums / Jonas Cambien piano.
"Belgian-born, but living in Oslo and being strongly involved in the Norwegian scene, pianist Jonas Cambien makes his debut as a band leader with two of Norway‟s most exciting players from the younger generation. Cambien has a particular view of the way improvisation and written material can intertwine. Influenced by textures and methods of free improvised music, his compositions function....

Jonas Cambien piano (soprano saxophone on track 4, organ on tracks 6, 11)

"Belgian-born, Oslo-based pianist Jonas Cambien couldn’t have chosen better partners than Andreas Wildhagen and André Roligheten to perform his cleverly constructed compositions. On its third studio album, his trio shows itself as a tightly interacting ensemble, with a free and playful approach.
Cambiens compositions often...

Jonas Cambien piano
Adrian Myhr double bass

"The elegance and complex delicacy of contemporary classical music and the drive and energy of jazz-rooted improvisation cross characteristics in the very special duo formed by Belgian-born, but residing in Oslo, pianist Jonas Cambien and the Norwegian double bassist Adrian Myhr. A member of the chamber music ensemble Aksiom, Cambien can develop tachycardic and jumping lines like the ones we heard from Thelonious Monk and Cecil Taylor with the sam

Their follow up to Raindances, with the same killer lineup of Peter Bardens, Andy Latimer, Mel Collins, Richard Sinclair and Andy Ward.

"As a life long Camel fan, I am used to certain quarters criticising Camel's change of style for this album. Sinclair's exceptional Bass guitair adds a jazzier feel to the music while his vocals are more refined and are a vast imnprovement on Latimer's or Bardens. Admittedly there are one or two weaker tracks such as "Wing and a Prayer" and "You make me Smile"...

"Two hours of live recordings at Billboard Live in Hollywood during their 1997 West Coast tour."

This is a fantastic artistic interpretation of John Steinbeck`s "The Grapes Of Wrath", and it thoroughly explores the theme of The Joads` journey into the false eden called California. It starts with the prying wind theme "The Dust Bowl" that turns into a vocal manifesto of the family`s unrelenting hope "Go West". Then we have a short symphonic masterpiece "Dusted Out" whose dramatic performance shows the drama of the Okies being kicked out of their homes. "Mother Road" brings another important message...

“Camel are an English progressive rock band who rose to prominence during the mid-70s. Their breakthrough album released in 1975 was an instrumental, orchestrated concept album The Snow Goose, inspired by the Paul Gallico short story of the same name. The follow up album was the last to feature the original line-up, and after various changes the band recorded a more commercial album I Can See Your House From Here in 1979.
The resulting tour was the first outing for the new line-up of founder members..
