“Fantastic missing gap in Cecil's discography! A legendary performance marred by the album getting the personal wrong! The correct players are Jimmy Lyons [recognizable from the first note], Bill Barron, Henry Grimes and Andrew Cyrille and of course Cecil himself.
The players (erroneously) listed was a mis-mash of guys on the Verve album from years earlier that CT shared with another group. This is NOT that album.
Lyons unique cry is heard right out of the gate, Grimes is magnificent, and hearing stuff from the Blue Note albums done live forces the listener to shatter many preconceptions about this music. Sorry for not being a critic, but I do still have ears - surprised no-one caught the error so far. Highly recommended!”-Eric Z
