Very interesting, but really, really poor sonic quality release by the Ayers/Ratlege/Wyatt trio featuring five tracks from the Concertebouw 12/10/67, one wild organ solo from the month before and the entire show from Col Ballroom in Davenport Iowa from 8/11/68 - the only live show from the band's two 1968 tours that have ever surfaced. Since it is near the end of the tour, you get to hear an embryonic version of Esther's Nose Job, as performed by the Ayers band among other cool things.
.If you think we didn't work long and hard to release the comparatively perfect-sounding document "Middle Earth Masters", listen to this and then listen to Middle Earth Masters and send Mike King the thank you note he has long deserved!
Still, at this price, if you are a total 'gotta have it all' Soft Machine freak, well, it's still sub-par, but you'll buy it anyway. I did.
