"I think once you get past the opening track "Rocket Roll" (which I think is silly and FM's worst song), the rest of the album contains my favorite music that FM ever did. The one-two punch of the very moving "Horizons" segueing into the energetic "Random Harvest" is for me, FM's high point. "Seventh Heaven" is also very good. "Sofa Back" reminds one of Rush's YYZ (except this was released 2 years before Rush's Moving Pictures album which contained YYZ). This album also shows FM in a vein that Rush did not explore until a few years later (that is with lush keyboard pads). Makes you wonder if Rush was influenced by these early FM albums. FM's first album, Black Noise is very good also, but Surveillance has more high points for me, notwithstanding "Rocket Roll". FM's follow-up album "City Of Fear" was a move away from overt "prog" tactics but I think it's still a solid album on it's own and very enjoyable - not pop, just a good interesting offbeat rock album. It wasn't until after City of Fear that they really jumped the shark."-Ted Thomas
