Nurse With Wound List

This is the first of the 2 albums that the duo of Hans Joachim Roedelius & Didier Moebius recorded for the Brain label. From 1972, it uses primitive synthesizers, electronic junk, guitars, basses, homemade boxes & more to achieve a true and utter masterpiece of early electronic sound. I can not recommend this highly enough!

"After Curiosum, the last Cluster album to be released on Sky, Roedelius and Moebius turned their attention to solo work. It was not until the early 1990s that Cluster returned to the electronic music stage with Apropos Cluster and One Hour. The duo...

This is a document of two modestly well recorded shows by Cluster in a very early and later early prime: 1972 and 1977. Don't start here, but essential and quite worthwhile for fans.

The two authorized recordings presented on Konzerte 1972/1977 vividly conjure up the atmosphere, perhaps even the magic, of a Cluster performance back in the day. One took place in 1977 during a science fiction festival in Metz (France). The other dates back to an earlier show in Hamburg's Fabrik venue. Cluster...

"Cluster's hiatus between Curiosum and Apropos Cluster in 1990 lasted for almost 10 years. Roedelius and Moebius spent this time developing their individual musical characteristics in a series of solo albums and collaborations which they released with...

Excellent final release by the pioneers of electronic music in Germany. These two musicians are old enough to be your father or grandfather, yet here they are making new, interesting, cutting-edge music.

"Reissue of the last studio album by Cluster, the legendary krautronic duo of Dieter Moebius and Hans-Joachim Roedelius, recorded in Ohio in 2009 by Tim Story. From Story's liner notes: "My role, as I imagined it, was to emulate Conny Plank, the great Cluster producer and a hero I'd never had a...

Originally released in 1976 and their last as a duo before recording their two famous albums with Brian Eno, this has been relatively difficult to find for some time until now.

"The fourth full-length album by legendary German electronic music duo Cluster, originally released on Sky Records in 1976. Sowiesoso follows on from their most highly-acclaimed album, Zuckerzeit (1974). Michael Rother's influence was clearly audible on the latter, Cluster already having recorded two albums with him under..

These shows from Cluster's 1996 US tour are shockingly great and up to par! Recommended if you don't already have these recordings!

"This release consists of tracks from Purple Pyramid's 1997 CD First Encounter Tour 1996, reworked and reselected.

Beautiful, new replica edition of this great, classic German release. There is currently no in-print CD edition; this is the only version currently out there!

After recording their classic II, the duo of Hans Joachim Roedelius and Didier Moebius joined forces with Michael Rother (ex Neu!) for two fabulous albums as Harmonia. So this, their 2nd album for Brain, was not released until the later 70's, & features slightly more sophisticated electronics & slightly less obvious 'junk' than before. Still..

Nice to have this classic spacey/ambient album generally available again. This was the first collaboration, recorded when Eno's star was at its zenith, between him and the great German electronic duo. I remember my first record store job, around 1978...

Reading the release blather below makes me feel so old; I remember when the cassette of this was released; I never did get to hear that cassette, but I can finally hear this now!

"Live In Vienna is the eighth full-length album by German electronic music outfit Cluster and their first and only album with Joshi Farnbauer. It is the first of three live albums recorded by Cluster.
On June 12, 1980 Cluster performed at the Wiener Festwochen Alternativ with Farnbauer. The performance was recorded..

Licensed from Jean Cohen-Solal. Includes eight-page booklet. Clear vinyl; Obi strip; Edition of 700.

"The first ever vinyl reissue of Jean Cohen-Solal's Captain Tarthopom, originally released in 1973.
"Nothing can stop a flutist. We can do whatever we want, whatever we feel. My flute, is a mirror of myself. I express feelings more easily with the flute than with language." This is what Jean Cohen-Solal said on the cover of his first album released in 1972, Flûtes Libres, renowned for its...

“The first ever reissue of Jean Cohen-Solal's Flûtes Libres, originally released in 1972. In a dreamlike fictive and windswept Brittany, hippy pirates and wild women more or less inspired by Gérard de Nerval fight it out in a theater, the magic of which brings to mind Cocteau, and where musical improvisation has an important role: this is Noroît, a cursed film which was never released in cinemas at the time (1976), directed by the great Jacques Rivette, where Jean-Cohen-Solal, his brother Robert and...

"How curious it is that this collaboration should come about so late in the day and how marvelous that it transpired at all. Lloyd Cole, this most ingenious of British singer-songwriters, and Hans-Joachim Roedelius, a patriarch of German electronic...

Not your typical Italian progressive rock CD, this is pretty much unknown and definitely a BIG winner. A huge instrumentation consisting of guitars, bass, drums, percussion, xylophone, keyboards, trombones, trumpets, tuba, clarinets, saxes, flutes, string quartet and vocalists is used as needed. Highly recommended!

"Reissue from master tapes of this avant-progressive album originally released on Ultma Spiaggia in the mid 1970's. Great horn charts. Perhaps a little bit reminsicent of Zappa circa...

“Previously unreleased recordings by various line-ups drawn from Derek Bailey, Tristan Honsinger, Christine Jeffrey, Toshinori Kondo, Charlie Morrow, David Toop, Maarten Altena, Georgie Born, Lindsay Cooper, Steve Lacy, Radu Malfatti, and Jamie Muir.
Journalists often make the brief history of free improvisation conform to the idea that the history of music is a nice straight line from past to present: Beethoven... Brahms... Boulez. Thus Derek Bailey, Evan Parker, and John Stevens -- together...

The fourth by this Spanish quintet who use elements of Catalan folk music mixed in with their jazz/rock fusion sound. This is from 1978 and features electric and Spanish guitar, Fender Rhodes, acoustic piano and moog, soprano sax, bass and drums. Not a...

"The seminal British progressive rock/folk band Comus is back. Their classic debut album, First Utterance, release in 1971, is on just about anybody who's anybody's list of "Desert Island" records. East Of Sweden is a live CD recorded at the Melloboat...

Classic, DARK freak folk release from 1971 that didn't sound like anything else in the air at that time (and still doesn't). This also includes their very rare, non-lp EP of the same time.

"If you're lucky, very very occasionally, an album comes along which completely blows you away, and you know it will be with you for life. It goes on heavy heavy rotation, and your life BECOMES the album for a while, and you know you'll never be quite the same again. Many strange threads coincided which...

"If you thought you heard the last from Stratos...you were wrong...this is a great CD that mixes prog elements and experimentation with no wave/punk rock ...and then adds a legendary Italian Rock singer (Demetrio Stratos) for good measure.
By using tapes from a producer friend who had taped one of Stratos' last concerts as a solo artist, the guys in the quartet found a new muse for their punky yet experimental misbehaviors.
A great, fun listen! They even do a cover of Area's Cometa Rosa!"

The minimal masterpiece and always the rarest Faust artifact from the 70s. A fantastic work. Hugely recommended to fans of minimalism.

"Violinist, composer and filmmaker Tony Conrad started his career in New York in the early 1960s. As a member of the Theater of Eternal Music (a.k.a. the Dream Syndicate) alongside John Cale, La Monte Young, Marian Zazeela and Angus MacLise, he participated in now-legendary and often legendarily loud drone performances with many pieces having no beginning and no...

"This double CD set collects together, amongst other things, all of Outtakes for Other Occasions and The Small Screen, both of which were never commercially released, all four pieces from The Classic Guide to NoMansLand, the subscription 7” Pictures...

After a dozen years, Fred’s all-star rock band returns for a third release!

All About Jazz described their music as somewhere between folk, Celtic, modern cha

Deep, inner-space cosmic music ala Yatha Sidra crossed with Neu! / Pharoah Overlord! “Dan Söderqvist from Älgarnas Trädgård is one of the members. The DNA carries over to this project.” Vinyl-only release in a limited edition of only 300!

“Cosmic Garden Project is a Music & Art Collective founded in 2019 by Per Svensson (The New Alchemy, The Kingdom of Evol), Dan Söderqvist (Älgarnas Trädgård, Twice a Man) and Pontus Torstensson (Tentakel, The Exorcist GBG). The Green Reverb is their debut album..

One of the stone classics of Krautrock and Kosmiche Musik, reissued for the very first time on CD and on vinyl from the original analog masters!

The Cosmic Jokers grew out of the marathon, LSD-rich sessions instigated by Rolf-Urich Kaiser (Kosmiche Musik/Cosmic Couriers) and Timothy Leary that also produced Ash Ra Tempel's "Seven Up".
What this is, essentially, is a 'kraut-rock super session', with Jurgen Dollase, Harald Gosskopf, Manuel Gotsching, Klaus Schulze and Dieter Dierks. So, a...

"David Cross was the violinist with the King Crimson band which created 'Larks' Tongues in Aspic' and Andrew Keeling is a contemporary composer and flautist. The two musicians collaborated on a series of improvisations, which has evolved into this beautiful collection of electric violin and flute duets, 'English Sun'. There is a common heritage at work here that goes far deeper than it's clear classical and rock components. This is new music by anybody's standard."

"David Cross was a member of King Crimson during the 1970s and David Jackson was a member of Van der Graaf Generator. This new studio album also features Mick Paul on bass, Craig Blundell on drums and was produced by Jake Jackson. The 12 new tracks on this album showcase the talents of Cross & Jackson and will appeal to the fanbases of both artists and the bands they have been in. It's an innovative meeting of minds."

"So, what have we here?
David Cross from the King Crimson of "Larks Tongues.

"Two members of the groundbreaking mid 1970s King Crimson line-up unite on a fascinating album length exploration of a melody - composed by David Cross and Robert Fripp - that emerged as one of the key themes on the King Crimson masterpiece, Starless...

First ever CD issue of this weird, sort-of-systems-music release from 1976!

“David Cunningham was born in Ireland in 1954. His work ranges from pop music to gallery installations including several collaborations with visual artists. His first significant commercial success came with The Flying Lizards' single "Money," an international hit in 1979.
Originally released in 1976, Cunningham's first solo album Grey Scale has become a landmark statement of DIY minimalist composition - continuing...

“American composer and multi-instrumentalist Alvin Curran has remained one of the great emblems of experimental music for the last half-century. In 1966, along with Frederic Rzewski and Richard Teitelbaum, Curran co-founded Musica Elettronica Viva, a seminal gesture in collective free improvisation. In the early ’70s, his solo work would become a crucial bridge between minimalist traditions on both sides of the Atlantic.
Canti E Vedute Del Giardino Magnetico, Curran’s solo debut, was recorded by....

“Two giants on great form: Alvin spookily surefooted in deployment of his often counterintuitive palette of sounds, Jon just stunning – in a partnership that provides perfect context for both performers. And it’s beautifully recorded. I know this stuff is a hard sell, but it deserves better; this is proper musicianship and it embodies a lifetime of research and performance coupled with some exquisite musical thinking, and no sense of complacency; a master-class. Dense and complex with passages of simple...

“To make public a mass of unreleased material I decided to wrap this musical collection into a box. These 10 CDs (and a audio DVD) include over five hours of unreleased materials, my three previously released solo CDs (‘solo’, ‘twice around the earth’ and ‘there and back again’), plus a double CD collection of tracks spanning 50 years of official recordings (It Makes Sense to Me), as well as the 22-hour radio programme I made for Radio Art Zone last year (that’s on the DVD).
36 hours of audio...

“50 years of experimental songs, instrumental music and sonic innovation, including tracks by Henry Cow, Art Bears, Cassiber, News From Babel, Aqsak Mabou, Duck and Cover, Peter Blegvad, Rene Lussier, The Work, Les Quatre guitaristes de L'apocalypso bar, Pere Ubu, The (ec) Nudes, Domestic Stories, Songs Between, NORMA ,p53, The Science Group, Cutler/Frith, Cutler/Parkins, Cutler/Dimuzio, Cutler/MacLean, Vril, Brainville III and Yumi Hara. Mostly co-written, but also taking in Satie, Bach, Eisler, Handel...

''Digital recordings from the Nordlydd Contemporary Music Festival and Berlin's Tacheles from 1991. Plus the historic prescient noise-music 1978 analogue recording from Limoges as a bonus. All singing, all dancing, all hell let loose. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee...'' -Chris Cutler

“There must have been something special going on in Verona last April; neither of these old sparring partners from Henry Cow and Art Bears can remember anything about this concert! By far the most aggressive of their duo albums, it leads us via howling fuzz guitar and machine gun percussion into walls of post-rock improvisation, obsessive industrial rhythms, and levels of excitement rarely generated by two people on a stage. The album is remarkable for Chris and Fred's rediscovery of melody and time...

“Der Osten Ist Rot starts off with the atrocious "Photo Song" which reeks of mid-80s banality and, open first listen, suggests that Czukay had completely lost his relevance. But if you can make it past that first track, the remainder of the album is completely out there - so much so that I am surprised Virgin released it - with only "Das Massenmedium" offering anything catchy, albeit still firmly within a left-of-center approach. In fact, once you've grown accustomed to Der Osten Ist Rot's warped...

Czukay's second album continues his fascination with and expermentation of using recordings from radio, television, short-wave and more, and 'gluing' non-similar sources together and making something unique from them, but also something that 'works' musically.
In the pre-sampling days of 1979, when this was first released, incorporating recordings off of the tv and radio into already existing songs was a fairly amazingly weird thing to be doing. For my tastes, this is his best realized solo album...

“I was about to give up on Czukay, but then he released this, easily his best work since Der Osten Ist Rot. Moving Pictures is an elusive, understated, and fleeting album, perfectly replicating that liminal stage between sleep and wakefulness. The space between the sounds is just as important as the sounds themselves. A really unique work that is also notable for the lyrical content of the final track, which preempts The Matrix.”-rateyourmusic

“Upon examining the eventful life of Can bassist Holger Czukay, one might come to the conclusion that this intrepid musician was a loner. His turbulent career exuded an enduring eccentricity governed by a boundless free spirit. Yet Czukay, who passed away unexpectedly last year at the age of 79, constantly emphasized that his creativity was always contingent upon a musical partner, whether that was a skin-and-bones counterpart or an anonymous manifestation that interacted with him through radio waves or...
