How many acoustic piano, bass & drum progressive rock bands can you think of? Korkoj may make you think that there should be more!
“The album crafts a genre-blending soundscape where progressive rock meets jazz fusion in an extraordinary synthesis of improvisation and structure. The innovative fusion results in a musical experience that is both intellectually stimulating and viscerally captivating.
Progressive rock's complex time signatures and intricate arrangements find a perfect partner in jazz fusion's exploratory spirit and emphasis on improvisation.”
“Korkoj is a music project created in june 2008. The multiple influences of its members come from very different musical worlds: progressive rock, metal and jazz, which lead them to adopt an original creative posture, each participating in the composition. A game of friction and incessant back and forth between different styles produces this sometimes strange, disarticulated tone. However, the purpose of the project is in no way to produce elitist or dark music, but to build bridges between different universes, different cultures, different listeners. The consistency of these different musical "slices" should allow everyone to hang on to a comfortable inner world, while sometimes brutally leading them to question their relationship to rhythm, style or melody.”
