Almost all instrumental music performed on electric and acoustic guitars, tenor sax and flute, bass and drums, with guest keyboardist Gian Piero Reverberi added on half of this 1973 album! Nice to have this available again, after many years of being unavailable and reissued here in a nice mini-lp sleeve with never-seen photos and liner notes in English and Italian! Another great one-shot Italian band, but this one as much a jazz/rock album as a progressive rock one. And, unlike many one-shot bands, these guys definitely didn't come out of nowhere and completely dissapear to nowhere, as "after the band split, the bass player went to Il Volo, and the drummer played in Nova. Duello Madre was a sort of superband, as it featured Marco Zoccheddu from Nuova Idea and Osage Tribe, Bob Callero - also from Osage Tribe - and drummer Dede Lo Previte from Circus 2000, along with sax and flute player Pippo Trentin. The great musicianship of the four-piece is evident throughout the album." A very minor classic, actually, but still a classic.
"After (the bassist and guitarists) excellent complex heavy progressive rock of their previous group Osage Tribe, they settled for a more jazzy direction reminsicent of the Canterbury sound. Drummer Lo Pervite (previously of Circus 2000) had by now developed a dense and busy percussion style. The highlights of the album are the two long tracks of side two...which sometimes almost fused John McLaughlin and Soft Machine. Quite a good album, this is recommended if you like the artists mentioned "-Scented Gardens of the Mind
