In the 1st days of June, 1963, just a little over a year before he died, Eric Dolphy led a series of sessions that ranged from solos to pieces for a largish ensemble for producer Alan Douglas.
These sessions were released as two separate albums, Conversations and Iron Man and are the next-to-last sessions he directed, superseded only by Out To Lunch in 1964.
This is those two wonderful albums which are great enough on their own plus 85 minutes of previously unreleased material(!!); two full albums worth of never heard outtakes and alternates!!
Eric Dolphy remains a pivotal and hugely enjoyable musical figure of the last century, and this release is the first previously unissued studio recordings led by Eric in 30 years and comes from the collection of his belongings which he had given to family friends before he went to Europe in May, 1964 and is exceedingly good quality for previously unreleased materials that have lain dormant for 55 years! Hugely recommended!
