The Who at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, The Netherlands 9/25/69.
This particular show is a of the very first rock concert in an opera-house setting, which at the time was seen as pretty scandalous. Later in 1970, they would repeat things at NY’s Metropolitan Opera House and at other opera houses throughout the world. But this was the first. It’s also a very good performance in quite excellent sound.

“Following the release of Tommy in May 1969, the Who embarked on a series of epic concerts...

The fourth album in four years by The Who and is one of the great achievements of rock in the late 60s and the album that broke the band into superstar status worldwide.
This is one of the great art-rock albums of all time and, nearly 50 years later, is still a stunning achievement; if you haven't played this one in decades, it's even better than you remember!
Absolutely recommended; this belongs in any rock collection.

“After all these years, it becomes clear that the relationship between Daltrey and Townshend -- the singer serving as the songwriter's best interpreter and editor -- is at the core of the Who, which is why Who feels like a Who album: The two still bring out the best in each other.”-AllMusic

“WHO is the Who's best album since The Who By Numbers over 40 years ago. Amidst a host of new Pete Townshend would-be classics, the capper is Street Song which could sit comfortably next to anything on Who's...

The Who's quite amazing 1971 studio album was (and is) played too much on classic rock radio, but that doesn't make it any less of a tremendous feat. It's also their most progressive rock oriented disc, what with Pete's use of keyboards and Terry Riley influences. “Super Deluxe Edition contains 10-CDs all remastered from original tapes by long time Who engineer Jon Astley as well as a Blu-ray Audio disc with newly made Atmos & 5.1 surround mixes of the original album and 14 additional tracks by Steven...

“The collective Who Trio commemorated 20 years of existence in 2018, by starting the project “Strell”, which only now has been committed to record. This was the time considered necessary for their members to achieve the maturity of a collective language necessary to embrace the ambitious enterprise of interpreting the music of Billy Strayhorn and Duke Ellington in a (re)creative way. The goal was to infuse this rich...

"A meeting of three European musicians from different generations each with his own musical background: three sound artists, three virtuosic instrumentalists, three breath-taking improvisers. BEYOND with Jürg Wickihalder, Barry Guy and Lucas Niggl means strong melodies, a deeply affecting and sensuous lyricism, moments of exciting groove and a rare and fascinating textural density.

Benoit was the keyboardist for Magma from 1975 to 1978. Additionally, he released a few solo albums in the mid/late 70's, of which this was the first. A keyboard/Moog-dominated record that at times gets amazingly heavy in a wild screaming synthi fusion way and at other times is very wonderfully atmospheric. It is perhaps comparable in timbre and tone to Jan Hammer's best work post Mahavishnu. Some of the material is solo and some features some unbelievably great guests.
If you are a fan of 70s music..

It’s now more than 50 years later and so it’s obviously time to celebrate what is my favorite album by one of the most important Scandanavian bands of the 70s!
What was originally the 1st 2 sides of the album are especially wonderful, organ-driven, song-oriented progressive, like the best of Caravan from the same period (1971). If you are a fan of this album, you need this hugely expanded version.

"The Wilde Flowers never released a record during their existence, but their influence exceeds that of many groups with lengthy discographies. The band served as the wellspring of the so-called Canterbury sound: future Soft Machine members Robert Wyatt, Kevin Ayers, and Hugh Hopper all played with the Wilde Flowers before the Soft Machine were founded, and Pye Hastings, David Sinclair, Richard Sinclair, and Richard Coughlan played in the group at various points before forming Caravan.
The musicians...

“UK musician Richard Wileman is probably best known for releasing 14 albums as the composer behind studio project Karda Estra. Inspired by weird soundtracks, easy listening, gothic and library music, art pop, dark folk and prog rock, his solo recordings and gigs feature new songs and instrumentals plus rearrangements of Karda Estra pieces that can fit into a live setting.”

“Karda Estra composer Richard Wileman releases his 4th solo album 'The Forked Road’.
Wileman describes the album as a 'Folk horror concept album, rooted in his home county of Wiltshire charting the encounter of a comet with Earth resulting in the undead rising and converging on The Ridgeway (an 87 mile chalk hill walk that starts at World Heritage stone circle site Avebury), all bookended by the last and first books of English magic'.
The album is written and produced by Wileman and features...

Another great find from the last warehouse; once these are gone, there will NOT be more.
Self-released almost 30 years ago and LONG out of print, this was the first glimmerings to the outside world of the wild sounds that Dave would soon enough bring to Hamster Theatre (the band) and Thinking Plague.
A composer and accordionist / multi-instrumentalist, this is a completely solo (Dave plays all parts) effort that will appeal to fans of Lars Hollmer, Toupidek Limonade, Frank Pahl, L’Ensemble Raye..

Jamison Williams - baritone saxophone

"Solo baritone saxophone recorded at Le Sauvage cathedral, Luxembourg; the place name goes back to a legend of a wild woman, who is supposed to have only eaten raw meat, had a double row of teeth, and lived under a rocky promontory, where she was buried by a landslide. In early chronicles, it is referred to as Val de la sauvage femme (French for "Valley of the wild woman")."

"Dividing his time between Brooklyn and London, veteran drummer Jeff Williams is in the midst of an exceptional run of albums on the Whirlwind Recordings. ‘Lifelike’ features alto saxophonist John O’Gallagher, a fiery presence on Williams’ first two Whirlwind releases, tenor saxophonist Josh Arcoleo, pianist Kit Downes and bassist Sam Lasserson and guest trumpeter Goncalo Marquez.

“Williams was one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time, but she was also a victim of geography. Her technical brilliance, complete control of the piano, creative imagination, wit, and constant desire to stretch herself put her at the top of her field although relatively few (beyond her fellow pianists) seemed to realize it during her lifetime. Born and raised in Baltimore, she recorded her first..

“When Mars Williams dove into his vault to excavate several recordings for a Mars Archive series on Corbett vs. Dempsey, he immediately landed on a concert date from a decade earlier.
The event, recorded at Chicago's Elastic Arts Foundation in 2012, featured a trio with Williams on reed instruments, Darin Gray on bass, and Chris Corsano on drums. This configuration had already been highly enough estimated by Williams that he'd posted one set on Bandcamp, but he saved the other set for future release..

“At the tail end of 1996, saxophonist Mars Williams and drummer Hamid Drake took the tall corner stage at Chicago's Empty Bottle for two sets of duets. The rock club had just started a weekly Jazz & Improvised Music Series, curated by Ken Vandemark and John Corbett, which would run for nearly a decade. This rare pairing brought together two pivotal figures in the city's creative music scene, both of whom had extensive experience in diverse areas of music, from the free jazz focus of this intimate...

This CD, with two previously unheard bonus tracks, presents the first (and by far the superior) of the two mid 1970's albums that Tony cut with the "new" Lifetime for Columbia. Believe It was from 1975 and includes Tony on drums, Allan Holdsworth-guitar (fresh from his stints with Soft Machine), Tony Newton-bass and Alan Pasqua-keyboards. There's some great stuff here, and this set is completely essential for fusion fans, Williams fans and Holdsworth fans.

Modestly pretty good quality sonics on this bootleg (the only half reasonable sounding live tape that exists) of the band slaying as only this band did. Conditionally hugely recommended.

Tony Williams Lifetime, featuring John McLaughlin, live from New York, November 1969. His celebrated blend of folkloric, jazz, and popular music has stationed Gismonti in the pantheon of Brazilian music. Fretless guitar, flute, violin, piano and drums!

“Brian Wilson's latest solo album of new material, his first since 2008's That Lucky Old Sun, is a masterpiece. It features young performers Nate Ruess (of fun.), Kacey Musgraves, the duo She and Him (Zooey Deschanel and Matt "M." Ward), jazz trumpeter Mark Isham, Peter Hollens, and Sebu Simonian. Also along for the ride are former Beach Boys Al Jardine and David Marks, and another short-term Beach Boys alumnus, Blondie Chaplin ("Sail On Sailor").”

“As the songwriter responsible for the sounds that all but define several eras of American music, Brian Wilson is one of the few artists who can return to the highlights of their catalog again and again without it becoming too tedious. At My Piano finds the iconic Beach Boys founder reworking some of his best-loved tunes as spare piano instrumentals, with a set list that includes four Pet Sounds compositions, songs from the Beach Boys' early surf-obsessed days, and selections from Wilson's solo albums...

This 1993 album was Cassandra Wilson's Blue Note debut and set the stage for the bulk of her career.
One of the best jazz vocal and most influential jazz album of its decade, it features uncluttered and well thought out arrangements, each one well suited to the song chosen and each one well fitting her dark voice.
She was also one of the earliest truly jazz vocalist to cast beyond the 'great American songbook' and use a personal & eclectic batch of great songs that reflect her interpretation of...
