Nice to see this rarity available; I've had a vinyl copy of this since the mid 80's, but that edition was sold out a billion years ago and it has never appeared again until now!

Holden says, “This album came together over the last 8 months. Because of the lockdown situation I found myself with unexpected free time

"UK composer and multi-instrumentalist John Holden releases a new album. Proximity & Chance considers how the earth was perfectly placed in its distance from the sun. In this case proximity was key to how our world formed and allowed life to flourish. It looks at the ideas of human inheritance. With all the events and possibilities in our long evolution it is amazing to think that we have all shared our lives under one sun. And just like with our early ancestors we do look out into infinite space and...

“2018’s Capture Light was English musician/ songwriter, John Holden’s debut release and, two years later, it has been great to listen to the follow up, ‘Rise and Fall’, a combination of John’s music with lyrics by his wife Elizabeth and himself. In a similar manner to, say, Big Big Train, each track is based on a historic event and the accompanying booklet not only has an individual image for each track, but the “background story/ myth”, is the listener can immerse themselves in the narrative and the...

Gary Husband also contributed some very personal liner notes to the package. The performance of Frankfurt '86 was beautifully recorded and filmed and was originally broadcast on German Television.

"Allan's ninth album is a collection of interpretations of jazz standards by John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Django Reinhardt, and Joe...

Allan's 1976 first solo, which was recorded around the time he was in the USA as a member of the Tony Williams Lifetime.
This is a hard album to find because Allan absolutely hated it and did everything he could to stop it from being available, claiming that these were merely rehearsals and should not have been issued.
Based on my knowledge about his control-freak-ism and his general unhappiness about basically everything he recorded, my guess is that his claims do not represent 100% fact...

This is the first posthumous release of Allan’s from the archive. It is completely authorized by the Holdsworth Family estate. The first thousand copies have a DVD of the concert, which will not be reprinted! So, grab one of these babies NOW if you want the DVD!

“Live In Japan 1984 is the final live set by Allan Holdsworth's I.O.U band, featuring live versions of material from his first three solo albums; I.O.U., the Grammy nominated Road Games and Metal Fatigue.“

There are millions of Billie Holliday comps out there, but this one is priced RIGHT and every one of them features Lester Young. So it is a great place to start.

"A Musical Romance gathers some of the most romantic songs Billie Holiday recorded with Lester Young, including "The Man I Love," "Time on My Hands (You in My Arms)," "I Must Have That Man," and "Who Wants Love?" Essentially a collection of some of the love songs featured on the excellent Lady Day: The Complete Billie Holiday on...

"This is the best new (not classic) instrumental jazz recording I've purchased in 20 years. It came out a decade ago so, nothing better ten years before it or after. And it holds up perfectly after a decade. It's hard-edged jazz, maybe acid-jazz, I...

“The phenomenal strength of Dave Holland’s bass pushes Steve Coleman and Jack DeJohnette into their most powerful work to date,” opined the Sydney Morning Herald. “The subtlety of Coleman’s inflections, the poise and complexity of his lines, are at the service of a very deep musical feeling. He is the best altoist to have emerged in a long time.”

Dave Holland-bass
Evan Parker-sax
Ches Smith-drums, percussion
Craig Taborn-piano, electronics

Is this the first recording of Dave and Evan since Karyobin? Might be!

"In addition to quartet improvisations, they also broke off into every possible subset of duo and trio configurations. The group also recorded two compositions by Smith and one by Holland. A resulting 23 tracks present a series of deep, multi-layered conversations between the musicians, some of whom were...

John Hollenbeck is one of the great up 'n' coming composers in jazz/new music today. His work as a composer for his large ensemble as well as for the great Claudia Quintet has won him great acclaim from the public and the critics (he scored the #1 slot..

John is, of course, known to all of us as the leader of the incredibly wonderful Claudia Quintet. This includes a number of different aspects of his work but most importantly for fans of Claudia, it includes two great tracks by Claudia (total of 16')...

John is one of the great composers of the present day, whether it's for smaller ensembles, such as his amazing Claudia Quintet, or for one of his large ensemble projects.
This is the latest from his big band and it's another fabulous release of unexpected melodies which are highlighted by brilliant tonal colors from the arrangements, which are also by John. Hugely recommended...

60s Brit-beat fans will hugely enjoy this BBC set which I found featured a little more of a raw edge on here than on the originals.
Pretty much excellent sound throughout.

Really happy to be able to offer this spare, lovely masterpiece again! Mark was the leader of the new wave band Talk Talk, and gradually, as the years went by, their albums got more and more fragile, acoustic and arty, pleasing the critics while bumming out the suits, as the big sales dried up. Seven years after the band broke up, he released this, his only solo work in 1998. Nicely orchestrated around piano/harmonium, clarinets, harmonica, trumpet, flute, English horn, guitar, bassoon, bass and drums...

"With Floury Hand (Sketches) is exhilarating listening (and viewing), and in a world now without Lars, poignant and bittersweet." – Dave Lynch/All Music Guide...

"The music on Viandra was recorded and mixed between 2001 and 2007, amidst all the other projects that sent Hollmer packing up his accordion and rushing to the airport for the next flight out of Stockholm. The music itself is as...strangely -- sometimes as magically -- wonderful as anything Hollmer has recorded in his solo career. Lars dominates on keyboards and accordion...while the strings and Berckmans' double reeds are secondarily the most dominant voices...more striking is the mood that he brings...

This has Lars' engaging compositions with his great Looping Home Orchestra, & includes guest shots by Jean Derome & Fred Frith. Fabulous & fun! IMO, this is one of Lars' great ones! If you are going to own just one Lars Hollmer album, this is certainly one to consider (but if you get it, don't be surprised if you want more!) Hugely recommended!

Very excellent keyboard trio retro-prog from Sweden. Listen my children and you will hear the work of

Don Pharoah : Bass Guitar & Vocals

This is psychedelic infused progressive rock that channels the heritage of 1970-era Pink Floyd mixed with the Hammond work of.

Last chance to pick this up, as Fallout have gone bust. Last copies and available at a bargain price!

“Anthropods is the new band from American drummer and composer, Mark Holub. Holub, known mainly as bandleader of the acclaimed and Mercury Prize nominated Led Bib has with ‘Anthropods’ created his first project as a leader since starting Led Bib in 2003. While some of Holub’s trademark Led Bib style is evident here, the album is full of contrasts...

They don’t talk about it anywhere, but The Holy Family is all of the final edition of Guapo (David Smith, Kavus Torabi, Emmett Elvin, Sam Warren) working in a more ‘tribal/hypnotic’ styling. But you can hear it’s them.

“The second album by underground rock-and-beyond shapeshifters The Holy Family follows up the British group’s widely praised self-titled debut from 2021 and – says foundational member David Jason Smith – “is based on a hypothetical theory that there is no such thing as ‘the future’..

So, while this album is hugely different from being an album by Guapo, it contains all of the current members of Guapo (David Smith, Kavis Torabi, Emmett Elvin & Sam Warren and was worked on by Guapo’s long-time engineer/mixer Antti Uulsmaki. Jes’ saying!

“The debut album by The Holy Family has arrived to bewitch and delight. The scope of ‘The Holy Family’ is bound- less. It’s an intrepid voyage through sound-worlds, as This Heat-esque polyrhythms, spidery zeuhl, oceanic kosmische, blissful...

A very early recording by the band featuring the duo of Peter Stampfel (banjo, fiddle, violin, arranger, vocals, electric fiddle) and Steve Weber (guitar, arranger, vocals).

"With Holy Sons' newest full-length Criminal's Return, Emil Amos dabbles in the 'revenge fantasy' genre, going toe to toe with Roger Waters in the race to become the most bitter songwriter in the world. If Spacemen 3 coined 'the sound of confusion...

"The greatest British rock’n'folk band of them all - captured in all their live glory - with brass blazing, lead guitar screaming and a rock solid rhythm section. 'Wild Life' was recorded direct to DAT at the Sidmouth Festival. and London’s Purcell Room..

It's great to see another release by this unique trio of Anna Homler-voice, Geert Waegeman-keyboards, etc. (of Cro Magnon) & Pavel Fajt-percussion, who released the excellent & otherworldly ''Macaronic Sines'' CD. This live release, features the additi...

LONG out of print. A tiny quantity were just found in the Lost Warehouse! HURRY!

The Homosexuals created a musical world of their own. Holed up in no-rent studios and squats, they mined every genre from psych-folk and Afrobeat to punk and dub, added killer hooks, then exuberantly tore it all apart. They wrote and recorded for five years, but they never took out an advert, sent out a promotional record, or got paid for a gig. The legend has grown, and today the Homosexuals are arguably the...

One of the most enigmatic bands of the UK art-punk UK scene, The Homosexuals carved a subterranean legend that far exceeded their discography of self released 45s and the posthumous release of The Homosexuals Record as a Recommended Records lp in 1984....

Always nice to see bands from AltrOck / Fading finding new homes!

“Homunculus Res was born in 2010 from the artistic union between Dario D'Alessandro - author of the band's music, lyrics and illustrations - and brothers Di Giovanni, with the precise aim to play with uncommon signatures and oblique arrangements, drawing inspiration from the so-called Canterbury scene sound, the Rock In Opposition movement and baroque psychedelic pop, to arrive at a form of melodic, light and ironic jazz-rock....
