Young, Larry - Lawrence of Newark CD

SKU URP-SGJZ-2106
Hammond organist Larry Young very famously made a bunch of Blue Note albums in the 60s, then, in that revolutionary year of 1969, started to go more out, appearing with the Tony Williams Lifetime, on McLaughlin’s Devotion, and McLaughlin/Santana’s Love Devotion and Surrender. This hard to find 1973 album is his first as as leader after that heady start he had to the 70s!

“This highly original music manages to bridge the gap between far away worlds, such as electric Miles, Krautrock (Embryo especially), psychedelic rock (with a touch of Santana).
It's trippy, dense, funky, all at the same time, and it sounds nothing like any other organ-based combo I can think of, including Larry Young's own previous recordings.”-rym
