“In the heyday of bootlegs, Yes must have been one of the most popular with dozens available for choice. This issue may be short [Just over 44 minutes] but they have selected extracts of decent quality and minimal overlap. Only one title (Beyond and Before) appears twice but these were recorded well over a year apart so showing substantial progression and a clear rebalancing of parts.
Many semi-official issues put the best bits first followed by dross but not here. All the performances are good. As it happens, the use of chronological order puts the three slightly lower sound quality tracks first {Beyond & Before / Images Of You And Me / Jeanetta}. The frequency range of these is a little compressed. It was thus a pleasure to find the next six tracks (from Belgium and Switzerland in late 1969) with a much greater sound scope.
I draw particular attention to Bill Bruford's drumming in the final tune [Something's Coming]. The bass of Chris Squire stands out on several tracks but overall no-one dominates as the five musicians had already blended as a group.”-Leslie Crumpton-Taylor
