Lovely gatefold sleeve that shows off the artwork beautifully!
Very, very good and completely retro-style symphonic progressive rock. Willowglass is Andrew Marshall on electric, acoustic, 12-string and classical guitars, analog keyboards (yes, Virginia, including lots and lots of mellotron), bass and bass pedals, flute and recorders with Dave Brightman on drums. This instrumental album's sound is in the vein of English classic symphonic rock with pastoral highlights, aiming somewhere between early Genesis (especially think Trespass and Nursery Crime) and early Camel. It isn't anything you haven't heard before, but it's also something that you rarely have heard done this well in the last 30 years. Conditionally highly recommended.
"Really good release from this new group. The music is all instrumental and very much in the vein of Happy the Man. Complex interplay of instruments(acoustic and electric guitar, drums, bass, synth)dominated by synth on most cuts, upbeat and cheerful sounding generally. Tracks range from intimate to grand in scale. The cover art is superb, just like the musical content."-B.W. Strauss
