Well, they certainly are wearing their influences on their sleeve and also on their album cover.
Having said all that, this is a pretty good Hammond organ led progressive rock release that doesn’t actually mimic ELP or Tarkus.
This is a numbered, limited edition of 500 copies of a record originally self released in 2006 and includes a CD of the entire album + bonus extras. There is no CD-only version.
“A Barcelona-based Catalan group with a really weird name, founded in late 2004 by close friends Daniel Seglers (keyboards, vocals), Juan Camilo Anzola (drums), Jan Satorras (guitars), Daniel Fernández (bass, drums) and Marc Viaplana (flute).
Entering 2005 Urban Trapeze started working on original music, intented for a full-length album, eventually released in 2006 as ''Reactivated Tarkus'' (private). The title could refer to music close to the likes of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, but truth is that the Spaniards drew influences from the whole Prog spectrum of the 70's.
Their music (especially on the two very long compositions) contains hints of Pink Floyd, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Focus, Genesis and even Eloy, coming as a mix of Symphonic Rock and Psychedelic Rock, originating from Daniel Seglers' symphonic keyboards and powerful Hammond organ, the punchy electric guitar of Jan Satorras and Marc Viaplana's flute injections.Nice, mostly instrumental music with some light jazzy overtones, impressive psychedelic moves with rich guitar/organ fests and some furious, nervous symphonic arrangements with monster keyboard flights.”-RYM
