“Imaginary Perspective begins with the 8-minute "Autumn Sonar", which offers an abstract wallpaper of tribal and metallic beats and jazzy brass wails. The just as abstract 9-minute "Radio Ice Waves" adds droney organ wheezes and even the suspicion of a rhythm groove in the second-half. "Muffle And Hum" loses the flow and sounds like a more traditional, albeit frosty jam. "Imaginary Perspective" starts with a more frantic and disconnected beat, but soon fits into place within the layered hum of the sobbing brass. "Echolocation Song" features the most sinister humming drones and spectral percussion yet. It reaches a fascinating destination that previous tracks failed to reach. The 7-minute "Under The Surface Of Saturn" loses some of the sinister sensation, but retains the spectral one and raises the hypnotic quality. In contrast, "Parallel In Name Only" spurts at irrational, tense and vibrant hues. In an attempt to reconcile the two angles, the closing "False Transform" combines their most fragmented and exuberant beat with their most atmospheric and pensive brass.”-rym
"There is jazz music outside of New York and Chicago, and it can be sophisticated and engaging. Such is the case with Imaginary Perspective by Triptet, hailing from the moist and wooded epicenter of grunge: Seattle. By discarding traditional ideas like songs and solos, Triptet takes the elevator down to the basement for a fundamental statement about sound, energy, motion, and the lack thereof."
“The acoustical rendition of a Jackson Pollack painting.” — Mark Petersen, Twenty-First Century Music
