This is a reissue of the complete works of this Montreal-based ensemble.
"This remastered 2-CD collection contains both complete albums released by this group led by percussionist Michel Sguin. It also contains a bonus multimedia section containing archival film footage of the group performing several songs, including a previously unreleased track. The music of Toubabou mixed progressive rock, jazz, and funk, with past and future members of Contraction, VEBB, and Harmonium. The album Le Bl et le Mil (1974) was recorded live before an audience of 55,000 on Quebecs Plains of Abraham, with a group of musicians from West Africa including the great Doudou NDiaye Rose. The second album, Attente (1975), shows a refinement and maturity of sound in a studio setting. Toubabou is one of the great lesser known bands of Quebec in that era, and we are proud to present their works on CD at last."
