Tesei is a young (well, he doesn't look that young in his photo, but he's younger than me, damnnit!) Italian composer who is quite unknown, but I was really taken with this album of pieces from the late 90's, performed by pianist Fausto Bongelli. If you love good solo piano works (Ravel, Bartok, Stravinsky, Schoenberg, etc.) the way that I do, you will love this album. "The music that I have written for the piano has always been suggested directly by the positions of my hands on the keyboard; the compositional imagination comes directly from the hands, with their muscles and tendons. More precisely, it is a game of reciprocal adaptation between the creative thought, the anatomy of the hands and the instrumental technique." [New Albion]
