The fifth album from this extra-ordinarily good Polish, edgy, instrumental quartet who are somewhere on the precipice of RIO edginess and ‘complex/out’ jazz [think ‘Starebaby’] and who are joined on this release by fully integrated guests on trumpet, violin & cello.
All of their albums are great, but this might be my favorite so far. C’mon in, the water’s fine!
“The Tatvamasi formation once again invites you to the world of free, instrumental music that cannot be clearly classified. ‘We play ourselves, we experiment. The road is winding and long. It's also an adventure. For us, styles and genres in music are completely irrelevant. Of course, we are aware that this or that can resemble prog-rock, punk, folk or jazz plays, but we do not mean it and we do not pay attention at all’ - this is how the band's philosophy is summarized by its leader, guitarist Grzegorz Lesiak.
Haldur Bildur is the fifth work of Tatvamasi. ‘The starting point for new compositions are my themes or grooves, but this is just the beginning of work on music’ - explains Lesiak. ‘The other elements of the songs are built on this foundation, thanks to which the whole sounds organic, and the stylistic ambiguity makes the final effect an extremely fresh look at improvised music in the broad sense. We treat our musical statement as part of a wider whole - the correlation of participation in the lush and abstract world of art as well as dynamic and unpredictable life experiences.’”
