“The Flower King by Roine Stolt, the start of the incredible journey - available here for the first time on vinyl. Presented in a gatefold sleeve pressed in gorgeous double red spatter vinyl.”

Before there was the band The Flower Kings, there was this album by their leader. Featuring Roine on guitars, bass, keyboards and vocals and either Hasse Bruniusson (Samla) or Jame Salazar (Jonas Hellborg) on drums, this album captured many of the best things about the 1970s music that he was paying tribute to, in a fresh way. In many ways, despite all the work he's done with TFK group, this first album remains one of my favorites. Definitely influenced by Yes, but with more of an edge.

"A major figure in Sweden's rock history, guitarist/singer/composer Roine Stolt led two of his country's most successful progressive rock bands: Kaipa in the 1970s and the Flower Kings in the 1990s onward. His distinctive guitar style combined David Gilmour's debonair mid-tempo, Steve Howe's sharp edges, and Frank Zappa's virtuosity. His vision of a positive world governed by beauty (akin to Yes singer Jon Anderson) gave his music an aura that appealed to many progressive rock fans."-François Couture/All Music Guide
