Solaris - Martian Chronicles III (I or A.I.) 2 x CDs

SKU SPH 2024/002
It’s been fully five years since this hugely popular Hungarian symphonic rock band has had a new release and not only are they back, but they are back with a third installment (40 years later!) of their notable and much loved first release, The Martian Chronicles!
This is made up of three epics, spread over the two CDs; two exceed 20’ each and the third is nearly 40’. It has lighter sections as well as heavier parts with lots of synths, guitars, flute, cello and violin.

"After Omega, Solaris is most probably the longest on-going Hungarian prog band (with Android not far behind), consistently releasing a long stream of six studio albums that are not only highly rated by the prog fan community but also with critics and reviewers worldwide. The first Martian Chronicles appeared as their debut album in 1984 (nice timing) and immediately causing quite the sensation, still mentioned regularly 40 years later!
The second chapter surfaced in 2014 and now 10 years later, here comes the freshly minted "III: or A.I.", a double CD spanning nearly 82 minutes. The band has remained pretty much intact, with the sadly departed Istvan Cziglan still a member spiritually, having passed away in 1998. Still directed by flutist Attila Kollar, Robert Erdesz on keyboards, guitarist Csaba Bogdan, Gabor Kisszabo, Tamas Pocs and Attila Seres as bassists as well as drummers Laszlo Gomor and Frenc Raus. Martian Chronicles III is composed of there long suites, a Solaris trademark that has never fallen out of style, maintaining their long-standing reputation for premium sci-fi based symphonic prog.”-ProgArchives

Solaris' best release. Superlative symphonic prog; sounds like the best of Rocket Scientists or SFF if those bands were influenced by gypsy folk music. Start here.
