Seabrook Power Plant - Seabrook Power Plant

I saw this pretty wild and extraordinary power trio of electrified banjo, bass and drums open for Zevious earlier in 2010. Their mixture of the banjo's unique sounds combined with skronk/punk-jazz makes for a unique take on the 2010 version of 'the downtown sound' (now relocated to Williamsburg, Brooklyn).
"The new, self-titled effort from Seabrook Power Plant is not only one of the most baffling experimental releases of the year, it’s also one of the best. The band, a skronky power trio helmed by banjoist-guitarist Brandon Seabrook, examines angular math metal through the lens of quirky postmodern improvisation. And instead of coming off as gimmicky, the mixture is completely exhilarating—not to mention formidably badass. Featuring creepy artwork by Kayo Dot’s Toby Driver”- Time Out New York
