"A collaboration between the legendary Hans-Joachim Roedelius and pianist/composer/actor, Christopher Chaplin. Roedelius was a member of Kluster (with Dieter Moebius and Konrad Schnitzler), and has been active ever since as a solo artist and in various collaborations (with D. Moebius/Cluster, with Moebius and Michael Rother/Harmonia, with Brian Eno, etc.). One of the most prolific musicians of the German avant-garde and a key figure in the birth of Krautrock, synthesizer pop and ambient music. Born in 1962 in Lausanne, Christopher Chaplin is the youngest son of Charlie Chaplin. He studied the piano with Irene Denereaz in Vevey before moving to London to become an actor. In 2005, he took up music again and more specifically composition. In 2010, he collaborated with Viennese electronic musician Kava on the album Seven Echoes. Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Christopher Chaplin first met in 2010 at the "Gugginger Irritationen 2" festival near Vienna, dedicated to Art Brut. In 2011, Roedelius was invited to play a live piano set for the BBC, which would be recorded and remixed by a musician of his choice, but with whom he had never worked before. Roedelius chose Christopher Chaplin for the task. The result was broadcast on BBC Radio 3's "Late Junction Sessions" program in June 2011. Roedelius then asked Christopher to collaborate further on his material, in view of a possible album. A year later, King of Hearts was born."
