Realtime Research - Out Of Osnabrooklyn

RAD2003-2
"Questions, questions, questions" ... are a conceptual must when it comes
to Realtime Research, who are less about the idle presentation of results
than about the character of the process that research itself is made up of.
The commonplace called "The journey is the reward" though couldn't be more distant with this very mixed septet. Being less of a band and more of the staff for an idea to become audible, Realtime Research are research within realtime rather than the search for it. A look around the direct
experiences in time-spaces and the levels of interaction, hence
communication between the physical world and it's media images, rather than the common clichée of ambient textures, microbiotic crackle of 4/4 rhythms and muted trumpet in front of mellow and picturesque video aestehtics. out of osnabrooklyn is a body of work that is free in terms of style, comprised of improvised and composed music, contemporary electronics and video.
Premiered in Cologne in the fall of 2002 as "The Show Where Mike Was Hurt",
pics/snaps were transformed into video sequence in realtime, the complex
process between improvisation, action, reception and reaction being
audio-visually defined and refined over and over again.
From the title track's "post-industrial bop" and the urban flair of
hongkong POP into the deep open structures of #2 to the white electronic
noise of hmmpf these recordings, done live in the studio with no overdubs,
reflect a passion and experience for/of the art of the untested.
Including 4 Videoclips on this extendend audio CD, RR's debut album out of
osnabrooklyn successfully manages to cope with the audio-visual challenge
despite the medium's natural limitations."
