Missus Beastly put out two albums in their lifetime, the first was a psychedelic blues album from 1969, and is considered one of Germany's earliest 'underground' releases.
The second album, from 1974, was a great jazz/rock album, featuring a splendid bunch of unknown musicians: Dieter Mierkautsch (piano, keyboards), Friedmann Josch (flute, soprano sax), Jürgen Benz (flute, alto sax), Norbert Dömling (bass, guitar), Lutz Oldmeier (drums). None of these guys really went on to have any kind of career of note, but the band at this period was a electric jazz band of the highest order. Recorded live to stereo tape, this presents live-in-the-studio versions of stuff from their 1974 album by the same band members who appeared on that album, as well as previously unknown material.
This is 100% killer jazz/rock from the right period. Essential.
"Recorded early 1974 at the SWF-Studio in Baden-Baden, Germany by the same line-up, which recorded at the same time the 2nd Missus Beastly album. Improved versions of older titles and some new titles prove the bands great talent for improvisations. Brilliant sound of brilliant tunes played by refined musicians. This kind of instrumental krautjazzrock is timeless. The musical orientation of the new Missus Beastly rather followed afro-american than European music traditions, but influenced by that certain Krautrock feel. Great music by a great band. Digitally remastered from original master tape. Comes with informative booklet and rare photos."
