Latest and possibly the best by this great Israeli 'beyond folk/beyond klezmer' band.
"Kruzenshtern I Parohod is one of the most important bands in the contemporary Israeli underground music scene. They have been playing together for 10 years, presenting a fresh and unique combination of Klezmer, Jazz and Hardcore-punk performing in Israel and all over the world.
KIP’s fifth release presents the new direction the band has been taking in the last three years with their new accordion player Boris Martzinovsky.
Recorded live in studio in December 2008, this album contains the most complex and ambitious material of this band up to this date, when they add to their Avant/Klezmer/Hardcore music new surprising elements from around the world (Jazz, Tango and even Brazilian music). The results are eclectic yet balanced compositions, moving from melancholic and lyric parts to tough and gritty metal parts in surprisingly organic way.
This album sounds like a meeting between Begnagard, Hamster Theatre and Carl Stalling; it is a schizophrenic non-traditional traditional music. It is an intelligent yet emotional work of ambitious artists that never stop pushing their own boundaries and testing their limits, without giving up their soul and humor."
