In his native Germany, guitarist Volker Kriegel was a very well known figure, and one of the fathers of German jazz/rock. This was his first solo release, and was recorded in 1971 and released on MPS. Another fine all-star band: Kriegel plays guitars and sitars, John Taylor-electric piano, Peter Trunk-bass, electric bass and cello, Cees See-percussion and Peter Baumeister-drums. Most of this is very cool, very early 70's period fusion - dig them sitars, baby - and some of it is straighter, but it's all good, and Kriegel comes across here a bit like early McLaughlin circa Extrapolation.
