Jazz Q were the top jazz/rock band from Czechoslovakia in the 70s and into the very early 80s. The group was originally formed at the very beginning of the 70s by the electric pianist/electric keyboardist Martin Kartochvil, who remained the leader until the band’s end. This is a high quality, never before released live recording.
"Titans of Czechoslovak fusion in concert. Unpublished material from 1980, recorded several months after the premiere of the "Hodokvas" album, is a perfect symbiosis of jazz finesse and rock feistiness. And also a testimony to an atmosphere that cannot be repeated – or recreated – today.
Carrying freedom on musical banners, Jazz Q in 1980 meets the audience that craves freedom the most. "Pralesní píseň" brings the virtuoso figures of Martin Kratochvíl on the Fender piano and Moog synthesizer, while "Pečeť" presents the more dark, experimental side of the formation. The program of this short performance also included recordings that the band was yet to release on CDs ("Trhanec") and those that never had a studio version ("Až se ucho utrhne").
The material was remastered from the original tape found in Martin Kratochvíl's home archive. The booklet includes a sketch by Łukasz Hernik."
