A rare 1970 folk-rock album. Jade were a very popular UK live act in 1970, but they only managed to record one studio album. Fly On Strangewings features a host of guest artists including members of Spencer Davis Group, Pentangle, Colosseum, Jefferson Starship and John Wetton from King Crimson. This includes an extra disc with a full 13 extra songs and was assembled with the help of leader and songwriter Marianne Segal. Fans of early Sandy Denny, Fotheringay, etc should check this out.
"We are delighted to announce the fullest edition of this UK folk-rock classic ever assembled. Boasting the talents of Rod Edwards (Picadilly Line, Edwards Hand), John Wetton (Family, King Crimson), Pete Sears (Jefferson Starship), Terry Cox (Pentangle), and others, Fly On Strangewings first appeared in July 1970, and is presented here complete with previously-unavailable bonus tracks and a full booklet including copious notes and rare photos. This is a stunning, highly-celebrated album replete with gorgeous male/female harmonies led by Sandy Denny-ish, silver-throated Marianne Segal, backed by harpsichord, guitar, and rustic violin arranged and played by members of some of the finest UK folk rock luminaries of the era. Hailed during its time, but regrettably mishandled, this reissue of Fly On Strangewings was assembled with the full involvement of leader and songwriter Marianne Segal, and it's simply essential for all fans of acid folk and folk-rock."
"Marianne Segal sounded more like Sandy Denny than any other British folk-rock singer of the time did, and her songs mixed rock music, more traditional British folk and lyrical elements, and stirring contemporary rock singer-songwriting." - All Music Guide
