Fuchsia - Fuchsia vinyl lp (due to size and weight, this price for the USA only. Outside of the USA, the price will be adjusted as needed)

SKU 18-GUESS 207LP
A very rare and very highly regarded 1971 album that mixes progressive rock and folk with a string trio.

"Most of the songs were composed bearing in mind the possibility of using a small string ensemble, so when the nucleus of the band, leader Tony Durant (acoustic and electric guitars and vocals) (from psychedelic band Louise and collaborations with ex-Louise and future Henry Cow drummer Chris Cutler and his Ottawa Company), bassist Michael Day and future folk-rock percussionist Michael Gregory decided to go on recording the first demos, they looked among their friends at Exeter University, and found three nice girls able to help them with cello, violins and backing vocals too. This move would prove essential for Fuchsia future, as manager Terry King was probably more than interested in having three attractive girls playing in a highly original semi-acoustic band. King was starting his own label, but not ready yet and licensed the Fuchsia album to Pegasus for its UK release (it was issued by Kingdom only in France the following year). Reviews were favourable but promotion lacked and, in spite of the 5000 copies sold, the band waited in vain to be called for the promised tour."
