Originally formed as the backing band for the legendary Prince Far I, Creation Rebel was one of Adrian Sherwood's first endeavors as a producer.
Their early albums, such as 1978's Dub from Creation, appeared on his Hitrun imprint, and the musicians served as the backing band for many acts on his subsequent label On-U Sound.
The group's left-field opus, the cinematic suite Starship Africa, appeared in 1980, and Creation Rebel released a few more records before disbanding following Prince Far I's untimely death in 1983.
