Chimpspanner (now that's a name) is a project by technical metal guitarist Paul Antonio Ortez. On record, he plays all the parts, which he does well, but since he plays live with a real band, it's a shame that they don't appear here - this is my only criticism of this fine, 25' release. Unbelievable chops, rhythmic and dynamic tension and release and great intelligence. If Blotted Science and Scale the Summit rock your world, please welcome Chimpspanner to your universe! Recommended.
