Michael Bierylo - Acoustic Guitars, Processed Electric Guitars
“Michael Bierylo is a guitarist, electronic musician and sound designer based in Boston, Massachusetts. He has performed throughout the United States as a member of Birdsongs of the Mesozoic with a catalog of albums released on Cuneiform Records. As solo electronic artist eMBee, he has performed with laptop computer and modular synthesizers in the US, Berlin, Shanghai, and Krakow.
Bierylo is Chair Emeritus of the Electronic Production and Design Department at Berklee College of Music where he led the development of Berklee's Electronic Digital Instrument Program, the Electronic Performance Minor and the Creative Coding Minor.
Life Line is an instrumental gem from Birdsongs of the Mesozoic guitarist Michael Bierylo, available on vinyl for the first time since its original 1986 pressing. A gorgeous collection of compositions that features acoustic and processed electric guitar, it pushes the boundaries of what one expects from new age or ambient music. Life Line is reissued alongside the 1987 followup "Cloud Chorus," both of which have been remastered by Bierylo for this pressing.
From the artist: "Early in my career as a musician I developed a passion for composition, recording technology and the guitar. The music on Lifeline and Cloud Chorus represents my way of bringing all of these together at a time when I felt the need to establish some sort of voice as an artist. The work grew from my time making demos on a 4-track portastudio in Boston and Berlin as well as countless hours playing acoustic guitar in the Boston subway system. From this, I learned the value of making the most from limited technical resources. Traveling has always been a passion of mine, and the work on both records reflects the spirit of adventure, curiosity, and discovery that I have experienced. All of these values continue to inspire me as I explore the possibilities of electronic music and live performance."
