Berger, Bengt/Kjell Westling - Live in Stockholm 77
SKU
CE11
Bengt Berger-drums, Kjell Westling, bass clarinet and sopranino sax.
There is a lot of improvisation here, but despite what Bengt says below, this is not a completely improvised; there are WAY too many moments that are obviously rehearsed, when the drums and the reeds play exactly in unison.
"Ett Minne for Livet (A Memory for Life) was a muscian's collective in Stockholm during the seventies, part of the progressive music movement in Sweden. Iskra, Spjarnsvallet, Vargavinter, Archimedes Badkar, Bitter Funeral Beer Band and Bolon Bata were some of the bands taking part, giving concerts on their own and together. We even put out some LP:s under the "Ett Minne for Livet" label. Bengt Berger and Kjell Westling were two of the central musicians during this time, playing in several of the groups. We did a live radio broadcast in 1977 and released it on our own label. The music we played is improvised, restless and of very high density (many notes in short time)."
