"Just one year after the marvellous "... di terra", Banco returns with "Canto di Primavera" (Spring Chant), an LP that captures your attention right from the beautiful cover, an almost abstract painting of a window slightly open to a clear and cloudless sky; those same doors then open up almost completely on the back cover, as if to send a message of hope and positivity towards the listener.
Above the visual impact, the second feature that strikes the eye and the ears of those who approach "Canto di Primavera" is singer Francesco Di Giacomo's return, after the entirely instrumental effort of "... di terra". It's almost impossible not to get carried away while listening to his distinctive voice and his poetic lines, which in the delicate "E mi viene da pensare" probably reach one of the highest peaks of the entire Banco's discography. Musically, the album still shows a band in full form, able to make complex arrangements and structures accessible, never indulging in catchy solutions nor blatantly commercial sounds, as many other distinguished colleagues did at the time. It's really difficult, if not impossible, to find some other Italian progressive rock examples in those years better than Banco and their the late '70s musical production."
