Alfie Ryner - Brain Surgery
SKU
AR 003
I just caught up to these guys (this is their 3rd album), but how I survived without knowing about them is beyond me. Take Gutbucket, Curlew, Jean-Louis, Doctor Nerve and put that agressive, electric jazz sound in the cauldron that is the great music scene from France, and maybe you get something like Alfie Ryner.
They call themselves 'jazz trash' and while I am not exactly 100% certain what they mean by that, it gets the point across. Highly and hugely personally recommended. Get it!

"You’ve got to hand it to France right now as being exporters of some of the best jazz-rock crossover groups as has once more to my attention with the phenomenal quintet Alfie Ryner."-BebopSpokenHere
"Alfie Ryner was born in 2006 when five musicians came together with a common goal; to experiment with new concepts of improvised music.
The band quickly became a space in which many influences and ideas around the jazz idiom were fused together. The first demo was recorded and many performances followed throughout 2008.
Alfie Ryner always sought to find a real identity without compromises and in 2009, the band began working with Les Productions du Vendredi to further their development. The first albums «Memorial I» and «II» were recorded in 2010 and 2012 at the Studio Condorcet in Toulouse after numerous concerts across France.
Between 2012 and 2015, the band appeared on many international stages as part of the european network «Match&Fuse» in Poland, U.K, and Norway.
Alfie Ryner have just recorded their last album «Brain Surgery» and prepare once again to tour in Europe and beyond..."
