Nurse With Wound List

“Upon examining the eventful life of Can bassist Holger Czukay, one might come to the conclusion that this intrepid musician was a loner. His turbulent career exuded an enduring eccentricity governed by a boundless free spirit. Yet Czukay, who passed away unexpectedly last year at the age of 79, constantly emphasized that his creativity was always contingent upon a musical partner, whether that was a skin-and-bones counterpart or an anonymous manifestation that interacted with him through radio waves...

Legit reissue of an album recorded in 1969 and originally released by Wolfgang himself in 1970 and then later licensed to and released by Brain in 1972!
The band is:
Wolfgang Dauner-piano, organ, flute
Siegfried Schwabb-guitar
Eberhard Weber-bass, cello
Fred Braceful & Roland Wittich-drums

Proto-kozmigroov, with major psychedelic and soulful moves and great, grooving, double-drumming! Comparable to, and absolutely as good as Brian Auger's work of the same era.

"They were exciting years, when Miles Davis used to drive through New York in an open sports car listening to Stockhausen's tape manipulations, and when Kraftwerk and Can in Düsseldorf and Cologne developed their own special style of Kraut rock. Experimentation with electronic music, and research into all its possibilities, were very exciting, but could be extremely frustrating too, especially under live conditions. "There were no instructions, no one who could help you to find the different sounds and...

This is the first ever vinyl reissue of this FABULOUS album, originally released in 1972. It's really quite a supergroup of (mostly German) jazz and jazz/rock personnel:
Wolfgang Dauner-keyboards, electronics
Larry Coryell-guitar
Günter Lenz-bass
Jon Hiseman-drums
Fred Braceful-drums

There's a lot of that early fusion sound, but there's also that typical 'out' thang that only the Germans seemed to be able to do. Fans of 70s jazz/rock and also of the more jazz/rock aspec

“Ogun Records are excited to announce the reissue of They All Be On This Old Road, on CD for the very first time, by the Elton Dean Quartet, featuring Elton Dean, Keith Tippett, Chris Laurence and Louis Moholo-Moholo. This expanded edition of the original LP includes 40 minutes of newly discovered extra material from the 1976 live recording and is released as a loving tribute to...

Der Plan was always more than a band: a kind of three-headed Renaissance man, for whom visual art was just as important as music.

"The music on this CD represents the early works of Irish composer Roger Doyle -- pieces composed in the late 1960s to mid 70s, re-packaged and re-mastered in 2002.
It includes his extremely rare self-released 1975 debut LP Oizzo No and his second LP Thalia from 1978, originally released on CBS Classics, all on the one 77 minute CD.
The earliest piece is Bitter-Sweet Suite for out-of-tune piano composed when he was 18, and the latest Thalia, his first large-scale electronic piece, composed at...

"Wonderful news coming from the Bay Area, even considering that the participants in this ad hoc trio originated from elsewhere—one from Detroit, another from Heathfield / England and the third from Los Angeles. The recording of Lantskap Logic took place at Mills College in Oakland—where Fred Frith directed the Improvisation program until he retired this year—and specifically at the Mills Chapel...

An underservedly obscure German psychedelic jazz/rock band. By the time of this, their 3rd album, from 1974, they had their best-known line-up of:
Eddy Marron (guitars, sitar, zaz, tambura, mellotron, voice)
Reinhard Karwatky (bass, superstring, mellotron, synthesizer)

I know that this is the team-up that *I* was hoping for. It’s genuinely great and Terje AND the band are in killing form!

“In 2019, Elephant9 released two double live albums, Psychedelic Backfire I and II, the latter with guest guitarist Reine Fiske, whose favorite guitarist happened to be Terje Rypdal. With both albums out of print, Catching Fire is a most welcome addition to their discography.
Recorded at a remarkable concert from 2017 in Oslo, Rypdal would turn 70 later in the year...

Hmmmm...Eno, Moebius & Roedelius...that would make this.... The second of two releases by Cluster and Eno, released in 1978, this follows onward from their classic first album. Nice to have this classic spacey/ambient album generally available again. This was recorded when Eno's star was at its zenith.

Etron Fou were one of the premier French avant/progressive bands from 1974-1986, & a founding member of R.I.O.
This reissues the Etron's 1st album, from early 1977. This is certainly their most dada/out album, and I have a real soft spot for it in my heart, but I wouldn't recommend you start here unless your interest is more in general French craziness than in the superb musicality that came...

Exmagma were a mostly instrumental crazy German jazz/rock trio of Thomas Baluff (organ & piano), Andy Goldner (guitar, bass, alto sax) and Fred Braceful (drums).
They recorded two albums, including this very rare and quite strange 1st album (this one) that I never saw until it was reissued many, many years later. This one had elements of fusion, but was really quite whacked, and which got them on the Nurse With Wound List.
By the way, their original name was Magma, and then they found out about..

They recorded two albums, including a very rare and quite strange 1st album and their 2nd (this one), more progressive fusion album, which I've always been extremely fond of, and which, 'strangely', was only released in France (and on Richard Pinhas' Urus label to boot)!

Faust are a rightly legendary experimental German ensemble from the early 1970's. This is almost all of their two posthumous albums which feature the unreleased "Faust V" album and their recordings before they dissolved in the 70's.

This contains their great 1973 Top Gear performance and a substantial amount of extra material, and even two outtakes from their albums, all of which have never been released!
Despite it saying ‘BBC’, nearly all of this was recorded at Wumme during the group’s classic early 70s period and is like a great lost album by them and even includes their ‘lost’ sixth member, Arnulf Meifurt, who only appears on the 1st album and ‘Tapes’.

When Wayside Music started, I bought something like 250 of these from an overstock dealer and was selling them for $2.00 each for years and years!
Nice to have this old friend from the past back once again at a bargain price (with the passage of 40 years, at the equivalent of the same price, actually!), and it’s also a little bit weird too!

Faust are a rightly legendary experimental German ensemble from the early 1970's. This was the last album to be released in their lifetime and the 1st to.

This is a beautiful reproduction of the strikingly amazing-looking first edition of the first Faust album. A clear disc inside a clear sleeve with a silkscreen, as well as a clear insert with print! Nothing like this was ever seen before Faust did it; as a English friend of a friend once said when talking about iconic avant-garde releases, "Faust was FIRST, mate!"
