Packaged simply but attractively in a regular CD size case, this is a simple but attractive document of four band's performances in Japan on July 20th, 2002, captured in a two-camera shoot from a good angle. Each band gets 20' minutes or so - a little more or a little less. The two names I was most familiar with are Ruins and Pochakaite Malko. Ruins turn in their usual great, hyper blend of Magma and punk. Pochakaite Malko turn up in a different lineup than their one album: violin, keyboards, bass and drums, but it is still very recognizably their cross of Keith Emerson meets Happy Family sound. Aburadako, a band known in Japan for their dozen or so albums over the past 20 years (and the band who Tatsuya Yoshida played with before forming Ruins) are a vocals/guitar/bass/drums band, and are in the arty/techno punk mode. The final band is very interesting: Cicala Mvta. They feature 2 drummers, clarinet, guitar, cello, violin, French horn and a dancing girl with the most frightening haircut I've seen since my office moved away from across the street from a tattoo parlor. Their music uses a lot of Eastern European influences with a rock/avant flair.
