Fairly amazing French techincal-metal, post-progressive, what-the-hell-is-this kinda band that Ken Golden discovered, when he somehow stumbled upon their website, which is an utter mess and so difficult to navigate that neither of us could figure out how to contact the band and see if they had any releases available and while we were trying to figure it out, this was released by Musea!
"This band is a bit hard to describe but I'll give it a shot since I think they are quite amazing. Sebkha Chott are a large French ensemble that characterize their music as "Mekanik Metal Disco" and after listening through this new disc you can understand where they come from. A highly theatrical band they add a bit of irreverance and drama to their music that recalls a bit of Zappa but there are strong elements of Magma, jazz, technical death metal, cabaret, eletronica, and ??. A bit weird but extremely compelling and very original. The music stops and starts and changes directions constantly - from genre to genre - somehow it all makes sense. Nagah Mahdi consists of 48 tracks that all segue into one another, keeping you off balance for the duration. The musicianship alone is a trip - these guys can really blow with the best of them. Highly recommended - I think with some exposure these guys could rock the world of many a listener"-Ken Golden
