For their 7th studio album, Present have really pulled out all the stops to deliver a package that in some ways is pretty much their definitive statement. First there is the CD itself, which has 3 long compositions: the fairly amazing "Vertiges", Pierre's "A Last Drop" and the band's intense take on Univers Zero's "Jack the Ripper". The sound is a further development of the band's previous two (fantastic) albums, Number 6 and High Infidelity. That's 3 songs and 45' minutes. Pretty great, right? BUT: then you pull out the second disc, which is a amazing and amazing quality DVD that lasts over 3 hours! It has footage from both of the performances at RIO 2007 (Present and 'acoustic Present', which featured some of their works re-arranged for two pianos and percussion ala contemporary classical music) and a good amount of their performance from the Gouveia Art Rock Festival performance from 2005. There's also bonus archival footage some of it dating back to the Present C.O.D. days, and a wild version of Le Poison Qui Rend Fou, part 2, with the two Trigauxs, Christian Genet and Daniel Denis! Professionally captured with multiple cameras and "exquisitely recorded and mixed by Udi Koomran, with post-video work by Asaf Carmeli, both of whom were out to re-define the parameters of modern-day Rock In Opposition products."
This is totally a pro release in every way and it's obvious that Ad Hoc spent a fortune on this, which is why the price is what the price is. Having said that, this is worth every penny, I think, and I think you will think so too! My highest recommendation.
