Emporio de la Impericia - El Emporio de la Impericia
I don't know a heck of a lot about this album or this band, but here's what I do know. El Emporio are a Argentinian quintet: Francisco Huici (soprano saxophone), Federico Meier (bass), Lucas Nikotian (piano and accordion), Federico Marquesto (guitar), Ariel Malerba (percussion) & Lucas Helguero (percussion), with lots of guests on reeds, brass and strings. This album has 22 short tracks that use a lot of South American musical stylings along with jazz, contemporary music, avant-garde and more to come up with a very, very original and great take on 'avant-progressive'. I saw this described as "where Hermeto Pascoal meets Frank Zappa", and that's a terrific description. A great album.
